Trump Reacts to Idea of Ordering Putin’s Capture

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump stated that he would not authorize an operation to abduct Russian President Vladimir Putin, dismissing the suggestion as unnecessary when questioned by journalists.

His comments followed the recent US commando raid in Caracas, where Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro was seized from his residence. Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky reacted to the incident, remarking, “If you can do that with dictators, then the United States knows what to do next.”

During Trump’s meeting with oil industry executives at the White House on Friday, a news agency’s reporter referenced Zelensky’s remarks. “Sounds like he wants you to go and capture Vladimir Putin,” Doocy said, asking Trump directly: “Would you ever order a mission to go and capture Vladimir Putin?”

Trump responded, “Well, I don’t think it’s going to be necessary. I’ve always had a great relationship with him.” He further expressed that he was “very disappointed” his attempts to broker a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine over the past year had not succeeded.

Moscow condemned the capture of Maduro as a blatant breach of Venezuela’s sovereignty. Russia’s envoy to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, labeled the US raid “banditry” that was driving the world toward “chaos and lawlessness.”

In addition, Russia recently accused Ukraine of deploying nearly 100 drones to attack one of Putin’s official residences in the Novgorod Region. According to Moscow, all of the UAVs were intercepted before reaching their intended target.
